Laser AMADA LCE 645 (Figure 1) was produced by Japanese manufacturer of metal processing equipment and machinery AMADA that is one of the biggest producer of equipments and tools for sheet metal in the world. It was manufactured in 1990. This laser is used for cutting sheet metal when you need a detail with a high degree of precision the size and shape. In the process of cutting the metal sheet we can get very small holes and slits in the metal up to half a millimeter in diameter only with laser. Is quite impossible to achieve such accuracy by any mechanical cutting.
AMADA LCE is equipped with FANUC O-L CNC control (Figure 2). Thanks that we can program laser for cutting details of any level of complexity, different size and shapes. Laser has a working table with length 177.2 in and width 59.1 in. The maximum length of traverse X-axis is 50 in, Y-axis – 39.37 in and Z-axis – 4.3307 in. The maximum feed rate in X-axis and Y-axis is 944.9 in. As for maximal thickness of the sheet metal workpieces, there of course we have different parameters for different types of steel, for steel ST37 we have 0.24 in, for aluminum – 0.12 in, for stainless steel – 0.09 in. Total power demand is 1.3 hp. The laser has a resonator FANUC C 1000 with maximum power 1k W.
Laser AMADA LCE 645 is also equipped with computer program with DOS system: CAD/CAM. This control ensures easy operation and speeds up all the work of the operator. Amada also has central lubrication, lighting and technical documentations. Despite many years, serviced and well maintained lasers of this type (Figure 3) work well today.
